Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake (D.Philpot) |
16:00
This morning Je brought a Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake to breakfast, found dead and
put onto a piece of wood but still really interesting to see given that only
two specimens had ever been seen and recorded in the history of this park - The
only true pelagic snake as the books say. I preserved it using Formaldehyde up
in the lab and continued working on deleting/sorting through all the 8000+
photos of the students. Although a boring task it was great to see what
students had taken photos of and what shots they had taken of me at work.
In
the afternoon the walking guide from the Monte Verde Reserve, Oscar - the
bird-calling guy, came down to San Miguel for a visit with his family which was
lovely. We went snorkelling along with DL, Ca and Kat where close to the end of
this snorkel session Ca found us a Round Stingray.
21:30
In the evening we worked on some of the puzzle with Oscar's daughter, the
sweetest little girl. And now I must apologise as nothing really interested
happened for the rest of today. I cut the photos down by 2,000, discovered the
hammock I bought won't fit in either suitcase I had, and got an early night
after helping out about the lab as normal these days.
A few species sightings at the lab:
|
A Massive Stick Insect (D.Philpot) |
|
A Regular Huntsman (D.Philpot) |
|
A Brightly Coloured True Bug (D.Philpot) |
